Vincent Van Gogh's Letters to His Brother Theo (Part 2) June 2020

In my previous post I wrote about creating a series of images from Van Gogh's letters to his brother Theo. Once the images have been developed they are processed using another machine learning technique known as style transfer. Here, the images created from the text are rendered from a small set images of Van Gogh’s own drawings.

The original images were processed to produce a second series of limited edition inkjet prints on high quality archival paper. Each print is signed and numbered and editions are of 25. Prints are sold unframed and mounted in acid-free mounts or framed and mounted, presented in glazed box frames.

Flowchart of stage 2

Stage two of the process starts with the original 1024px image created from the text to image model and which is rendered from a small set of images of Van Gogh's original drawings. Final prints are selected from the output to produce an edition which is upscaled to 2048px (or 197x197mm).
